复旦大学始创于1905年，原名复旦公学，1917年定名为复旦大学。上海医科大学前身是1927年创办的国立第四中山大学医学院，1932年定名为上海医学院，1985年改名为上海医科大学。2000年，复旦大学与上海医科大学合并，组建新的复旦大学，进一步拓宽学科格局，增强办学实力，已经发展成为一所拥有哲学、经济学、法学、教育学、文学、历史学、理学、工学、医学、管理学、艺术学等11个学科门类的综合性研究型大学。

目前，复旦大学有直属院（系）32个，附属医院16家（其中5家筹建）。学校设有本科专业70个，拥有一级学科博士学位授权点35个，一级学科硕士学位授权点41个，博士专业学位授权点2个，硕士专业学位授权点27个，博士后科研流动站35个。在校普通本、专科生12881人，研究生16929人，留学生3043人。现有教学科研人员2799人。拥有中国科学院、中国工程院院士42人，中央“千人计划”118人，教育部“长江学者”133人，“国家重点基础研究发展计划（含重大科学研究计划）”项目首席科学家34人，“国家杰青”97人，文科杰出教授1人，文科资深教授11人。

学校与全球200余所大学和研究机构建立交流合作关系，本科生海外交流比例近50%。学校先后与28个地方政府和10余家企事业单位签署了战略合作协议。

学校已形成“一体两翼”的校园格局：即以邯郸校区、江湾校区为一体，以枫林校区、张江校区为两翼。占地面积244.99万平方米，校舍建筑面积200.20万平方米。

英文翻译：Founded in 1905, it was formerly known as Fudan public school, a key construction University of "211 Project" and "985 Project", a national key university directly under the Ministry of education, and a multi-disciplinary comprehensive research university, Fudan University was founded in 1905, formerly known as Fudan public school, and was named Fudan University in 1917. There are 12881 ordinary and junior college students, 16929 graduate students and 3043 international students in the University. There are 2799 teaching and research personnel. It has 42 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of engineering, 118 members of the central "thousand talents plan", 133 members of the "Yangtze River scholars" of the Ministry of education, 34 chief scientists of the national key basic research and development plan (including major scientific research plan), 97 members of the "National Outstanding Young Scholars", 1 outstanding professor of Arts and 11 senior professors of Arts. The university has established communication and cooperation relations with more than 200 universities and research institutions around the world, with nearly 50% of undergraduates communicating overseas. The school has signed strategic cooperation agreements with 28 Local Governments and more than 10 enterprises and institutions. The school has formed a campus pattern of "one body and two wings": Handan campus and Jiangwan campus as one body, Fenglin campus and Zhangjiang campus as two wings. It covers an area of 2.4499 million square meters and the building area of the school buildings is 2.02million square meters. It's brilliant.
