The University of Hong Kong (HKU), founded in 1911, is a public research university in pokfulan, Hong Kong. It uses English as its teaching language and is good at research and education in the fields of law / Psychology / human politics and biomedicine. Founded in 1911 and officially established the following year, it is a Hong Kong higher education institution. The Hong Kong Chinese College of Western medicine, established in 1887, has been merged into the medical school of the newly established university, which is the same as the school of engineering and the school of Arts. The University also held its first graduation ceremony in 1916, but later the Japanese war caused great interference to the operation of the University. After the Second World War, the school continued to develop and many new departments and colleges were completed. HKU now has a total of 10 academic institutes, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong are the only two comprehensive universities in the region. Since its establishment, it has been teaching in English, and is good at research and education in the fields of law, psychology, human politics, biomedicine and other academic fields. The emblem of the University of Hong Kong was made on the recommendation of the British Academy of Heraldry and was awarded the crest containing the school shield and motto on May 14, 1913. As early as October 1912, the University of Hong Kong mentioned the design of the shield in a letter to the heraldry. But who is the designer? It may be a European who is familiar with heraldry. It can be seen from the design of the heraldry that the early founders of the University expected the University of Hong Kong to develop into an integrated University of China and the West. The blue and green background respectively represent the Hong Kong Island where the university is located and the scenery surrounded by the sea. The current shield is based on the drawings of the heraldry in 1958. In 1981, on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the University of Hong Kong, the University applied to the heraldry for a complete heraldry, with the addition of the animal form including the crown and supporting shield. The application was approved by the British heraldry in 1984. There are three creatures in the crest (outside the school emblem). At the top is the little lion that represents England. On the left is the Dragon representing China, on the right is the lion representing Britain, and on the grass represents Hong Kong Island. All three creatures are wearing emerald necklaces. Helmets and ribbons represent brave knights.
