1998年，湖南省种子公司发起组建湖南亚华种业股份有限公司并将种子业务板块变更为亚华种业种子种苗（粮油）分公司。2004年，湖南亚华种业股份有限 公司以种子种苗分公司、亚华种业科学院联合33个自然人发起组建湖南亚华种子有限公司（以下简称公司）。2007年9月，公司并入袁隆平农业高科技股份有 限公司，成为隆平高科种子产业全资子公司。
公司注册资本3000万元人民币，住所位于湖南长沙市麓谷高新区沿高路11号。公司主营业务为杂交水稻、杂交油菜等农作物种子的研究、开发、选育 和批发、零售。截至2009年12月31日，公司拥有总资产1.05亿元，净资产3336万元。2009年度公司实现主营业务收入1.12亿元，净利润 1900万元。
公司运作的“亚华”品牌创立于1998年，在历经12年的发展后，“亚华牌”杂交水稻和“亚华牌”杂交油菜已成为深受广大农户信赖的“优良种”、“放心种”和“丰收种”。
公司下设研发中心、营销中心、生产部、质检加工中心、人事行政部和财务部。公司共有员工89人。

In 2009, the company realized main business income of 112 million yuan and net profit of 19 million yuan. The "Yahua" brand operated by the company was founded in 1998.
