中山大学传播与设计学院，成立于2003年。学院以“人文新媒体、融创传播学”为学科定位，形成了“以通识教育为基础，以创意教育为中心，以实践教学为重心”的办学特色，培养既具有科学及人文素养又具有应用能力的复合型人才。
学院在注重夯实学科根基的同时，倡导“实训、实践、实验”教学创新，建设了融合采编实验室、纪实摄影实验室、大数据传播实验室、交互媒体设计中心等实验室集群，和谷河传媒、谷河青年空间、公共传播工作室等实践平台，拥有省级实验示范教学中心。
学院设有新闻学系、公共传播学系和创意媒体设计系，本科开设新闻学和传播学两个专业。拥有新闻传播学一级学科硕士学位授予点（下设新闻学、传播学学术型硕士专业，和新闻与传播专业硕士）、设计艺术学硕士学位授予点，以及政治传播交叉学科硕士点和博士点。拥有“广州大数据与公共传播”市人文社科研究基地，中山大学全媒体研究院、公共传播研究所和视觉传播研究中心等校级研究平台，及中山大学互联网与治理研究中心等智库研究机构，围绕媒介融合与当代中国新闻业、政治/视觉/应用传播等公共传播、大数据传播与媒体设计等学科方向开展高水平学术研究。
