西汉末年,王莽篡政,改汉朝为新朝,并欲灭绝汉室。高祖七世孙刘秀起兵征讨,并与当时的绿林军会合,将王莽新政催跨了。期间刘秀落荒逃至张弓镇,于张弓镇北“二柏担一孔”桥下藏身避险。刘秀脱险后,沽张弓酒庆幸抒怀,饮酒赋诗曰:“香远兮随风,酒仙兮镇中;佳酿兮解忧,壮志兮填胸”。刘秀酒后策马东行三十里至落虎桥,酒力泛胸,余香盈口,不禁勒马回望张弓镇,连赞好酒,乘兴饮诗曰:“勒马回头望张弓,喜谢酒仙饯吾行,如梦翔云三十里,浓香酒味阵阵冲”。刘秀称帝后,封张弓酒为宫廷御酒,其藏身脱险的小桥赐名为“卧龙桥”,其勒马回头处建起了“勒马镇”。张弓酒自此名声更盛,流传至今。

张弓酒业公司是以生产“张弓”牌优质酒为主的白酒生产企业。张弓酒业其前身是于1951年组建的河南省张弓酒厂,历经几十年的发展,于2002年7月改制而成股份制企业,2003年9月又改制成为民营股份制企业,实现了由国有国营到民有民营的彻底变革。企业占地面积31万平方米(417亩),年生产白酒能力为5万余吨。
