一九五六年春，“桂美轩”在政府的大力支持下，联合昆明九家糕点作坊，并重新选址在中外闻名的“护国起义”原址：昆明市护国路40号，共同组建了(国营)昆明市桂美轩糕点厂。二〇〇五年十一月，(国营)昆明市桂美轩糕点厂改制成立昆明桂美轩食品有限公司。

昆明“桂美轩”在随后的半个世纪中，不断更新技术，产品工艺精湛、配料考究，质量上乘、风味独特，享誉四方。其中云腿月饼、鲜花饼、重油蛋糕、芙蓉糕、面筋洒淇玛等10多个产品荣获部、省、市优质产品奖。在昆明传统糕点行业中，“桂美轩”争春斗妍、一枝独秀。
