上海市第一人民医院建于1864年3月1日，时称ShanghaiGeneralHospital，为全国当时规模最大的西医医院，也是全国建院最早的西医综合性医院之一。1877年更名为公济医院，1953年改名为上海市立第一人民医院，1981年成为上海市红十字医院，2002年加冠上海交通大学附属第一人民医院。1992年通过国家卫生部评审，成为全国首批三级甲等综合性医院。医院十三次保持上海市文明单位称号，1990年以来分别荣获全国百佳医院、全国卫生系统先进单位、全国创建精神文明先进单位、全国医德建设活动先进单位、全国医院文化建设先进单位、全国五一劳动奖章等。
